Two workers and the manager of the company Aximum were presented Thursday to a judge for possible indictment over the accidental start of the main fire in the Fontainebleau forest.
The events took place on 12 July near the A6 motorway at Noisy-sur-École. The men were repairing guardrails when a thermal disc grinder produced sparks.
The vegetation caught fire and the blaze spread quickly to the adjacent forest. Nearly 2,000 hectares have burned since Sunday, about one tenth of the forest.
The Fontainebleau prosecutor stated that the custody periods were lifted on Thursday and that requests for judicial supervision will be made. The investigation continues into the exact circumstances of the fire’s outbreak.
