The Dublin quartet Gilla Band has revealed plans for its next album, Pugnello, due September 25 on Rough Trade. The band also released a new song, Placeholder, with an accompanying video.
Gilla Band confirmed the album details after sharing its first new track in three years last May. The record was produced entirely by the group and mixed by member Daniel Fox.
Vocalist Dara Kiely described Placeholder as an ode to childhood comforts including Big Brother and the Power Rangers. He recalled being told at a Christian summer camp that becoming a Power Ranger was not a real profession.
The band’s previous album, Most Normal, came out in 2022. A North American and European tour in support of Pugnello is set to run from this fall through 2027.
