Hong Kong restaurants are investing in preparations to welcome dogs as part of a new pet-friendly policy launching on July 9.
Under a policy by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, 833 eateries will allow dogs to enter starting Thursday to develop the pet economy.
Old Fung Tea House, which has six outlets, had its owner Fung Man-kit invest about HK$10,000 at the Mong Kok branch on items including an air purifier, partitions and pet strollers.
The scheme requires reservations only, and the owner said pet owners had shown strong interest with weekend spots quickly filling up.
