Former Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden has called for the team to give Shedeur Sanders the starting quarterback job in 2026. Haden said the Browns should move on from Deshaun Watson.
Haden made the comments recently on his Deebo and Joe podcast. He said he wants the Browns to start Sanders immediately and give him the keys to the offense. Haden added that Watson's time in Cleveland has passed.
Sanders was selected in the fifth round of last year's draft after falling far below expectations. In his rookie season he started seven of eight games and threw for 1,400 yards with seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions while earning a Pro Bowl selection.
Watson has not played a full season since 2020. Injuries, including an Achilles tear that kept him out for most of 2024 and all of 2025, have limited his availability since joining the Browns in 2022.
Haden expressed hope that Watson succeeds elsewhere but believes the Browns would learn more by playing Sanders.
