Cleveland Browns cornerback Denzel Ward said Saturday he wants to remain with the team despite the trade of Myles Garrett earlier this week.
Ward addressed his future directly in comments shared by Browns reporter Scott Petrak. “I definitely still want to be here,” he said. “Myles is a good friend of mine, great teammate, but things aren’t lost, you know. It’s still Ohio against the world.” The Browns traded Garrett to Los Angeles and received pass rusher Jared Verse plus a first-, second- and third-round draft pick. Ward, who is 29, recorded under 400 yards allowed in 15 games last season with a passer rating of 88.1 when targeted. He also posted 39 tackles and earned his third consecutive Pro Bowl honor. Ward noted the team’s continued focus on winning games for the city amid the rebuilding phase.
