Jon Rahm missed the cut at the 2026 U.S. Open after a second-round collapse at Shinnecock Hills. The Spaniard was recorded kicking his driver in frustration on the 16th tee.
Rahm opened with a two-under 68 and stood four shots off the lead. His round unraveled on the back nine Friday with four straight bogeys followed by a double-bogey seven at the par-five 16th.
He finished the day at six over par, two shots below the cut line. Video shared on X showed Rahm drop-kicking his driver after his tee shot at the 16th and continuing to kick the club as he left the tee.
The incident followed a similar club-throwing episode by Joaquin Niemann the previous day that resulted in a two-shot penalty. It remained unclear whether Rahm would face any disciplinary action.
