Qualifying unfolded under intense heat, starting at 4pm local time. Antonelli took command in Q1 with a 1m28.653s lap after Verstappen initially led. Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto suffered power unit failure, McLaren's Oscar Piastri scraped into Q2 in 16th on used tyres, Racing Bulls' Arvid Lindblad was eliminated in 17th, and Nico Hulkenberg exited in 11th after missing the sprint race start due to issues.
