Kindiki directs state agencies to embrace eCitizen platform

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has directed all ministries, state departments and agencies to fully embrace the eCitizen platform. The directive was issued on Tuesday after a working meeting held on behalf of President William Ruto. Revenue collected through the platform has risen from KSh20 billion in 2022 to KSh539 billion this year.

Kindiki spoke after chairing the meeting on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. He said the government aims for 100 per cent compliance while addressing operational challenges.

The platform now serves 16.5 million adult Kenyans for digital payments. Kindiki noted that the digitisation programme introduced in 2023 has improved efficiency and reduced revenue leakages.

The directive supports the broader agenda to centralise services, enhance accountability and simplify access for citizens. Other digital systems rolled out include SHA's health platform and electronic logbooks.
