They arrived at the KPK headquarters early Saturday after departing Cilacap Friday night. The case involves alleged bribery related to projects in Cilacap Regency.
Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a raid operation (OTT) against Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others on Friday, March 13, 2026, related to alleged receipt of bribes from projects in Cilacap Regency, Central Java. "It is alleged that there were receipts accepted by the regent's side related to projects in Cilacap Regency, Central Java," said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta on the same day.
During the raid, the KPK seized an amount of cash in rupiah as evidence. "Evidence secured in this hand-catching incident includes cash," said Budi Prasetyo. The amount of money is still being counted, and the KPK promises to provide further updates.
After initial questioning at the Banyumas Police Resort Headquarters in Purwokerto, the group departed for Jakarta by train on KA Purwojaya from Purwokerto Station at 9:37 PM Friday night. They arrived at the KPK Red and White Building around 2:35 AM Saturday, March 14, 2026. Of the 27 people secured, 13 were brought to Jakarta, including Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman, the Cilacap Regional Secretary, Assistant for Government and Public Welfare, Assistant for Economy and Development, Assistant for General Administration, Head of Public Works and Spatial Planning Office, Head of Education and Culture Office, and Head of Water Resources Management Office.
"From the 27 people secured at the location, 13 of them were brought to Jakarta," added Budi Prasetyo. The suspects were brought for intensive examination to determine legal status, with a 1 x 24-hour limit under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). "Intensive examinations are currently ongoing," he said.
Cilacap Regency DPRD Secretary Basuki Priyo Nugroho visited the questioning site but claimed he did not meet the regent or KPK investigators.
