On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people, President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders paid homage to the victims. They asserted that India will never bow to any form of terrorism. Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri also shared an emotional note on social media.
A year ago, a terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, claimed 26 lives. On Wednesday, marking the first anniversary, President Droupadi Murmu stated that the country remains resolute in its determination to defeat terrorism everywhere in all its forms.
She added, “The tragic loss of innocent lives in that heinous act remains etched in our collective memory. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. The entire nation stands with them. Such acts of terror cannot deter our unwavering commitment to peace and unity.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted on X: “Remembering the innocent lives lost in the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack on this day last year. They will never be forgotten. My thoughts are also with the bereaved families as they cope with this loss… As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Vice-President C P Radhakrishnan, LoP Rahul Gandhi and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also paid tributes. Shah said, “Terrorism is the greatest enemy of humanity, against which we must stand united to fight and defeat.”
Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri marked the occasion with an emotional Instagram note remembering the victims and reflecting on terrorism's impact. His upcoming film, Operation Sindoor, is based on the tragedy.
