Footage of the opening cinematic from the canceled mobile game Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link appeared online over the weekend. The clip shows Keyblade-wielding characters in astronaut-like suits battling a giant Heartless. Development on the game ended about a year ago.
The leaked video depicts a squad of characters dropping into a dark watery area before fighting the monster with jetpacks and Keyblades. It also features characters including Brain and Sigurd.
Kingdom Hearts Missing-Link began development in 2022 as a mobile title connecting Kingdom Hearts Union X and Kingdom Hearts Dark Road. Square Enix canceled the project last year after the team determined it would be difficult to deliver a satisfactory long-term service.
The game had been positioned as part of the series lore, with some characters planned to appear in Kingdom Hearts IV. Focus has since shifted to that title, which received a Switch 2 trailer in June.
Fans are analyzing the footage for potential connections to the broader Kingdom Hearts story, including the Astral Plane and Quadratum.
