Limerick-based artist Willzee, of Traveller descent, has released 'The Tribe', the second single from his forthcoming album Deep Tinker. The track reflects on identity, legacy, and transformation. The album is set for release on May 22, 2026.
Willzee, a Limerick artist known for blending rap, Irish folk, and spoken word, dropped 'The Tribe' following his initial single 'Travelling Man'. The new song delves into his experiences growing up in Traveller culture, revisiting formative years shaped by community traditions with a fresh perspective on responsibility and change. As the last child in his family line, Willzee explores honoring his father's legacy while carving his own path through education, music, and community leadership. “I’m a TraBuffer – Traveller blood, Settled rearing. I’ve tapped into my settled artistry for years. Now it’s time to give the Traveller in me a go,” he explained. Rooted in personal heritage and academic research, the track challenges cycles of prejudice, including the impact of policies like the 1963 Commission of Itinerancy. Willzee's upcoming album Deep Tinker draws on ancestral storytelling and grassroots Traveller music. “It’s like my ancestors awaken in me each time I hear this album,” he said. The album will arrive on May 22, 2026, via Welcome to the New World.
