Man arrested for killing teacher after alleged flirt in DF

Guilherme Silva Teixeira, 24, was arrested by the Federal District Civil Police for murdering professor João Emmanuel Ribeiro Gonçalves de Moura Carvalho, 32, at a bus stop in Sobradinho II. According to the suspect, the crime happened after he felt offended by a flirt from the victim, though the motive remains under investigation. The brutal attack left the victim agonizing at the scene while the perpetrator went to work.

On Sunday, January 4, around 5:50 a.m., João Emmanuel arrived home in Sobradinho II, Federal District, after taking an app-based ride. He left his phone and backpack at the residence and headed to a nearby bus stop. There, he encountered Guilherme Silva Teixeira, who was waiting for a ride to work as a locksmith.

According to delegate Ricardo Viana of the 35th Police Station (Sobradinho II), the victim, allegedly intoxicated, flirted with the suspect and invited him for sexual acts, offending him. Teixeira crossed the street and attacked João with punches, kicks, and stomps, leaving the imprint of his flip-flop on his face. The victim died at the scene, almost in front of his home, around 6:30 a.m., when firefighters were called.

“The violence was so intense that the mark of the perpetrator's flip-flop was imprinted on the victim's face, who died at the scene, almost in front of his own home,” said delegate Ricardo Viana.

After the crime, Teixeira proceeded to work with his boss, the victim's neighbor, who saw João agonizing and was charged with personal favoritism but released after signing a commitment to appear in court. The motive was recorded as homophobic, but sources indicate the discussion's cause is still under investigation, with no prior connection between perpetrator and victim.

João, known as Nuel, was a teacher at Instituto São José and son of vice-mayor George Moura from Isaías Coelho, PI. Friends and family described him as a “synonym of joy”.

“It's so hard to find the right words. There was no room for sadness in his life,” vented cousin Beatriz Buenos Aires.

Mayor Waldemar Mauriz Filho expressed sorrow: “In this moment of immense pain, we stand in solidarity with the family and friends.” The body will be buried in Isaías Coelho, with three days of mourning declared.
