A 35-year-old man has been convicted of aggravated assault after stabbing another truck driver in the neck at a rest stop in Tärnsjö in May.
The district court sentenced the man to three years in prison. He will also be deported from Sweden and banned from returning.
The incident occurred after the two truck drivers met at the rest stop in Tärnsjö in Heby Municipality. They agreed to meet again a few hours later to drink beer.
The stabbed man described the attack as sudden and unprovoked. The convicted man claimed he acted in self-defense. The prosecutor sought a conviction for attempted murder, but the court did not find intent to kill proven.
