Matías Morla, former representative of Diego Armando Maradona, testified as a witness in the trial underway in San Isidro. He stated that he was the former player's best friend and his representative until his death on November 25, 2020. He noted that the decision for home hospitalization in Tigre was made by doctors and the family.
During the hearing, audio recordings between Morla and Leopoldo Luque were played containing insults directed at Dalma and Gianinna Maradona. Morla apologized for the messages and said he felt shame. He also recounted that he last saw Maradona on November 16, 2020, and noticed he had a robotic voice.
Jonathan Espósito, Maradona's nephew, also testified. He described that the former player was swollen, without appetite and in low spirits during his final days at the Benavídez house. He stated that no person entered the room on the morning of the death.
Morla is not on the list of defendants for simple homicide with eventual intent in this process. The former captain's daughters accuse him over commercial brand issues in a separate parallel case.
