Owner of Bibi Kelinci restaurant, Nabilah O'Brien, admitted feeling deeply shattered when named a suspect in a defamation case by her customer, Zhendy Kusuma. The case ended peacefully through mediation on March 8, 2026, and was discussed in a Commission III DPR RI meeting on March 9, 2026.
On March 9, 2026, during a public hearing (RDPU) with Commission III of the DPR RI at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Central Jakarta, Nabilah O'Brien shared her emotional experience. "I had to accept a designation that greatly shook my life; at that time, honestly, I felt very shattered, very sad, and confused," she said. She added that the incident left deep wounds, and her hopes as a citizen were nearly exhausted. Nevertheless, Nabilah expressed gratitude that her case ended peacefully and chose to forgive.
The case stemmed from a dispute between Nabilah, a celebgram and restaurant owner, and guitarist Zhendy Kusuma. Nabilah first reported Zhendy to Polsek Mampang for alleged theft, and Zhendy was named a suspect. Zhendy countersued Nabilah for defamation.
On March 8, 2026, mediation at the Bareskrim Polri building, facilitated by the Investigation Oversight Bureau (Wassidik), involved Nabilah, Zhendy, Zhendy's wife Evi Santi Rahayu, and Nabilah's representative KDH. Head of the Public Information Bureau of the Polri Public Relations Division, Police Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, stated, "These four parties were present and then made a peace agreement." Both sides agreed to withdraw police reports and delete related social media posts.
As a result, the case received an SP3 (Letter of Order to Stop Investigation), and Nabilah's suspect status was lifted. Chair of Commission III DPR RI, Habiburokhman, stated that Nabilah did not meet the elements of an unlawful act or intent for defamation. "Commission III DPR RI supports the withdrawal of suspect status against Ms. Nabilah O'Brien and the termination of this case through restorative justice mechanisms," he said.
Habiburokhman also conveyed President Prabowo Subianto's message to ensure justice for small people and avoid judicial errors. He emphasized that not all minor disputes must be resolved in court but through familial means.
