Chile's Navy warned of possible waterspouts forming along the Maule Region coast between the afternoon of Saturday, July 4, and early Sunday, July 5.
The warning was issued due to instability linked to a low-pressure system. The Maritime Meteorology Center of Talcahuano connected the phenomenon to the development of convective clouds.
The period of highest concern ran between 18.00 and 00.00 hours, mainly between Punta Boyeruca and Faro Carranza. Authorities recommended caution in exposed coastal areas.
Waterspouts can move from the sea toward the coast. The warning remained in effect until 05.00 hours on Sunday, July 5.
