Two surfers were detained on Thursday in Sector 5 of Reñaca, Viña del Mar, after entering the sea despite the ban in force due to the frontal system.
According to the Navy, the two athletes disobeyed instructions from the Maritime Authority suspending all maritime activities as a preventive measure.
The restriction responds to the arrival of an intense frontal system affecting ten regions of the country, with rainfall, strong winds and swells that increase the risk for those engaging in recreational or sports activities along the coast.
After being caught in the water, the surfers were intercepted by Navy personnel and placed at the disposal of the corresponding procedure. The institution reiterated the call to respect the measures while dangerous conditions persist and warned that it will continue to monitor the coastal area.
