In Addis Ababa on Megabit 19, 2018 EC (around March 28, 2026), the Ethiopian Nuclear Energy Commission met with UNDP to strengthen strategic collaboration. Chief Commissioner Sandokan Debabe discussed Ethiopia's nuclear roadmap for peaceful purposes with Representative Samuel Gebaydie Don, focusing on joint efforts.
Sandokan Debabe noted that Ethiopia's growing economy requires reliable power supply, posing a survival challenge. He highlighted nuclear power's critical role in sustainably powering sectors like agriculture, health, research, and technology, and its irreplaceable importance for the Digital Ethiopia 2030 strategy.
Samuel Gebaydie Don outlined UNDP's work in creation, climate change, green economy, and clean energy options. He assured readiness to collaborate closely with the commission.
