Pamela Anderson is starring in the new satirical dark comedy Rosebush Pruning, which opened in select U.S. theaters on July 24. The actress discussed the film and her evolving career in an interview with Deadline.
Anderson plays the deceased family matriarch in the film, directed by Karim Aïnouz and written by Efthimis Filippou. The story centers on a wealthy American family living in hedonistic isolation in Spain, where tensions erupt after an outsider arrives. The ensemble cast also features Callum Turner, Riley Keough, Elle Fanning, Jamie Bell, Elena Anaya and Lukas Gage.
In the interview, Anderson said she was drawn to the project because of its provocative script and the director’s prior work. She described her character’s fate involving wolves and noted that the shocking elements serve the story without being gratuitous. She also reflected on her past in mainstream roles like Baywatch and her recent turn toward indie films after The Last Showgirl.
Anderson confirmed she has several upcoming projects, including Place to Be, which is set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival. She stated she has no plans to join the Fox Baywatch reboot, saying no one had reached out to her about it.
