Red Bull chief engineer Paul Monaghan is set to join the Cadillac Formula 1 team. The move has been effectively finalised but no formal resignation has been submitted yet.
Monaghan serves as chief engineer of car engineering at Red Bull. He joined the team in 2005 and contributed to its success during the Christian Horner era.
Speculation about his departure grew in recent weeks and intensified before the Austrian Grand Prix at Spielberg. Reports were confirmed there that Cadillac is his next destination.
This weekend Monaghan continues his duties in the Red Bull garage without having submitted his resignation. The team is already undergoing restructuring after earlier exits by Horner and Adrian Newey.
Cadillac has recruited staff from several UK-based Formula 1 teams including Red Bull. Monaghan began his F1 career at McLaren in 1990 before later stints at Benetton and Jordan.
