PDI investigates robbery at Freire Municipality with $160,000 stolen

Chile's Policía de Investigaciones (PDI) is probing a burglary at the Freire Municipality, where thieves took around $160,000 in cash and other items. The suspects entered by scaling the building and through a hole, according to the Pitrufquén Brigada de Investigación Criminal (Bicrim). Efforts to identify the perpetrators are ongoing.

At the request of the Fiscalía de Flagrancia, PDI is investigating the burglary at a non-residential site in Freire Municipality. The criminals entered the municipal offices by scaling the building and through a hole, said subprefecto José Luis Lamilla, head of the Pitrufquén Bicrim.

The suspects took approximately $160,000 in cash and other items after ransacking the premises. Ongoing efforts include reviewing security cameras and interviewing witnesses to identify the perpetrators.

Forensic experts from PDI's Criminalistics Laboratory are collecting evidence at the scene. The incident took place recently in Freire, a commune in Chile's La Araucanía Region.
