Security Minister Trinidad Steinert led a migration operation on Friday in La Vega Central, Recoleta, alongside PDI Director Eduardo Cerna. Seventy-five PDI officers and Carabineros checked 100 foreigners. Thirty were transferred for administrative violations, and three were arrested on pending warrants.

On the morning of Friday, April 10, Minister Steinert arrived at La Vega Central in Recoleta to lead a migration inspection operation. Accompanied by Police Investigations Director Eduardo Cerna, she oversaw actions by 75 PDI officers alongside Carabineros.

A total of 100 foreigners were checked. Thirty were transferred to the National Headquarters of Migrations and International Police (Jenamig) to report violations of migration law, such as irregular entry or working without permission, according to the PDI. These are administrative offenses reported to the National Migration Service (Sernamig).

Additionally, three foreign citizens with pending arrest warrants were detained. Steinert stated: “The purpose is to tackle organized crime and know who is really in our country. We want to know who is in our house”.

The minister noted that these operations, repeated in recent weeks, will continue unexpectedly in strategic areas of the Metropolitan Region. Cerna added: “We won't publish the days or hours, but this is decreed and we will review it nationwide.”
