Prabowo directs Himbara to lower UMKM credit rates

President Prabowo Subianto directed Himbara banks to offer lower credit interest rates to MSMEs than to corporations during a meeting at the Presidential Palace on Thursday.

The meeting was attended by Bank Mandiri CEO Riduan, BNI CEO Putrama Wahju Setyawan, BRI CEO Hery Gunardi, BTN CEO Nixon L.P. Napitupulu, and BSI Commissioner Muhadjir Effendy. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani were also present.

The President stressed that Himbara banks must exercise prudence and serve as the lifeblood of the national economy. The combined market capitalization of the five banks reaches Rp1.100 trillion.

The government also introduced a one-stop export system with foreign exchange proceeds managed by PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia and channeled through Himbara networks. Rosan Roeslani described the meeting as a productive first step to support priority economic programs.
