During the December 1, 2025, edition of Jornal da Band, Adriana Araújo reported two recent cases of violence against women in São Paulo. In the first, a woman had both legs amputated after being dragged about 1 km along Marginal Tietê by an ex-partner, motivated by jealousy upon seeing her with another man at a bar. The victim, Tainara Souza Santos, 31, is in serious condition in the ICU and will undergo new surgery to fix pins in her pelvis. The aggressor, Douglas Alves da Silva, 26, stated in his deposition that he only wanted to 'scare' her after a fight, but police dispute this, stating he acted out of jealousy and did not stop the vehicle even with the victim trapped. Tainara is a mother of two children, aged 12 and 8, and is described by her family as hardworking and cheerful.
The second case involved a pastry shop employee who was shot five times by her ex-boyfriend and was rescued and hospitalized. Visibly emotional, Araújo began her speech with data from the Anuário Brasileiro de Segurança Pública: last year, 1,492 women were victims of femicide, or four per day, with 15 daily attempts, of which 11 survivors suffer severe sequelae.
"Monstrous killers kill or attempt to kill women every day in our country. There are 15 per day and four of these women will die, and 11 are the survivors, those who escape by a hair's breadth", she said. Continuing, she demanded: "What appeal is left for women to make so that the police, the Justice, the country wakes up and puts a stop to this slaughter? What happens in our country every day is a femicide slaughter, and the criminals are the victors".
Araújo concluded: "As long as there is no Tremembé for femicides, as long as they do not rot behind bars, they are the victors, and we are all condemned, because the pain of a mutilated woman hurts us all". The repercussion was immediate, with viewers praising her choked voice and agreeing with her words.
