President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez held a meeting at the Palace of the Revolution with Union of Young Communists leaders to follow up on Community Youth Network projects, two months after its creation.
The meeting included Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau, student leaders and municipal coordinators from the network. Díaz-Canel stressed the need to support people disconnected from education and employment, and proposed forming worker brigades to address population needs.
Meivys Estévez, first secretary of the UJC National Committee, presented results including assistance to more than 4,000 senior citizens, integration of 9,000 young people into education or employment and support for more than 2,000 pregnant women. The network proposal was presented in April.
Díaz-Canel said the network's work is strategic for the Revolution and that current generations must ensure its continuity in exceptional times.
