Residents in East Bengaluru’s IT corridor have reported severe potholes and flooding on key roads, leading to traffic disruptions and safety risks. Officials cite jurisdictional issues and pending compensation as barriers to repairs.
Residents described hazardous conditions on roads such as Medahalli Main Road, Thubarahalli Village Road, Manjunatha Layout, Silver Spring Layout Road, and Munnekolala underpass junction. Syed Ansari noted that heavy rains turn Medahalli Main Road into a stream, slowing vehicles and causing accidents. Parthasarthi M. said complaints and protests over Thubarahalli Village Road have gone unaddressed for years.
Sumana Choudhury highlighted dangers for children and school buses stuck in potholes during rains. A traffic policeman reported frequent vehicle rescues that provoke public anger. Uday Chougule of the Bengaluru East Corporation explained that Thubarahalli Village Road overlaps with a stormwater drain under another department’s control.
Sachin Appugol stated that Medahalli Main Road shifted to ward jurisdiction after the formation of the Greater Bengaluru Area. Ghori Saab said land acquired in 2008-09 remains uncompensated, stalling further work. The corporation plans a box-type drain with slabs for Thubarahalli Village Road.
