University of Indonesia professor Rhenald Kasali highlighted the withdrawal of three HIPMI chairman candidates and urged seniors not to interfere in the election process.
Rhenald Kasali stated on his personal Instagram account that the resignations raised big questions. He asked seniors to give space for young people to compete fairly. Four HIPMI regional boards from South Papua, Central Papua, Highland Papua, and Southwest Papua also voiced objections. They argued that the voter rights determination ahead of the national conference could reduce participation from new regions even though organizational obligations had been met. South Papua HIPMI chairman Nickson Pampang emphasized that the objection was not to seek special treatment but equal rights. Southwest Papua HIPMI chairman Rob Rafael Kardinal added that the commitment of new regions should receive equal recognition.
