On July 11, a special counsel team sought an arrest warrant for former Army Ground Operations Command head Kang Ho-pil over alleged ties to ex-President Yoon Suk Yeol's martial law attempt.
The special counsel team led by Kwon Chang-young filed the warrant application with the Seoul Central District Court. The hearing is scheduled for Monday.
Kang is accused of setting up a situation room and ordering the assembly of a crisis response team and senior officers. He is also suspected of taking part in martial law discussions before the declaration.
Kang has stated he had no prior knowledge of Yoon's plans and was not involved in the declaration.
Three other former military commanders face ongoing trials over related allegations.
