Taylor Swift surprised attendees at the Toy Story 5 world premiere on Tuesday evening by performing live at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. She debuted her new song from the film and joined Randy Newman for a duet.
Swift took the stage in a floor-length gown for a piano rendition of “I Knew It, I Knew You,” marking the first live performance of the track. The song, inspired by the character Jessie, represents a return to her country roots and has already achieved a historic milestone on country radio. Later in the evening, Swift dueted with Randy Newman on “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.” Newman played the piano while the pair swapped vocals. Swift also posed with the film’s cast and had Tom Hanks sign her original Toy Story VHS tape. Toy Story 5 is scheduled to reach theaters on June 19, the same day as the 20th anniversary of Swift’s debut single “Tim McGraw.” The premiere marked Swift’s first proper performance since the end of The Eras Tour in December 2024.
