Irish rebel folk band The Mary Wallopers have released new single 'Landlord's Demise' and discussed their upcoming album 'Paddywhackery' in an interview with NME.
The group, led by brothers Charles and Andrew Hendy from Dundalk, County Louth, will release their third studio album on September 18. Recorded in two weeks with The Coral’s James Skelly, the record features more original songs than their previous releases and is described as heavier and more uptempo.
'Landlord's Demise' addresses the fall of empire in Ireland and the struggles of renters. Andrew Hendy told NME the track draws from a true story of a manor house and Tom Barry’s book Guerrilla Days in Ireland.
The band also reflected on their 2025 Victorious Festival set, which was cut short after organisers removed a Palestinian flag. Other artists later pulled out in solidarity. The group said they continue to speak out on issues they believe are right.
A UK and Ireland tour in support of the album begins in October, with headline shows at venues including London’s O2 Academy Brixton and Dublin’s 3Arena.
