Senate Majority Leader Aron Cheruiyot described the late Koech as a deeply influential figure who mentored many. Former CS Charles Keter said, "Arap Koech gave generously of his time, resources, and counsel to uplift those around him. The lives he touched and the developments he championed in his community stand as a lasting tribute to a man who believed in the power of giving back."

Mzee Koech was known as a staunch Christian with deep family values who contributed to uplifting his community through education and building social amenities such as schools. This comes nearly a week after the death of Seme MP's father, Mzee Eliud Nyikal Okaka, on April 12.
