A tourist plane crashed Friday afternoon in a field at La Baule, killing two people. Firefighters from Loire-Atlantique extinguished the blaze that had broken out.
Responders found the two victims deceased upon arrival. The aircraft was on fire with flames spreading to nearby vegetation, according to the firefighters’ statement.
Sixty-three firefighters and twenty-nine vehicles were deployed to quickly put out the blaze. Exact circumstances of the crash and the victims’ identities have not been released.
According to Ouest-France, the twin-engine plane had departed Rennes around 5:20 p.m. to attend an aircraft gathering scheduled for the weekend.
