Alex de Minaur lost to Flavio Cobolli in straight sets during the Wimbledon fourth round. The World No. 6 described his feelings after the match.
“I’m broken inside. That’s the reality”, de Minaur said in his press conference. “You invest so many hours into this job and so many years to have moments like these. Not being able to live up to it is truly heartbreaking. It’s very hard.” He added that his goals now feel further out of reach.
Cobolli secured the win with a single break in the first set, a comeback in the second-set tiebreaker, and a decisive break in the third set. The Italian reached the quarterfinals for the second consecutive year.
