Alex Eala lost to her friend Iva Jovic 6-2, 6-2 in the round of 16 at the 2026 Queen's Club Championships in London on June 10. The defeat ended Eala's six-match winning streak on grass courts.
The Philippine player had advanced to the round of 16 after defeating China's Zhang Shuai 6-3, 6-2 in the opening round. She was coming off a title win at the Birmingham Open, where she captured her second WTA 125 crown. Jovic, the American world No. 19, broke Eala in the first game and built a 4-1 lead in the opening set. Eala fought back to 2-4 before Jovic closed out the set and then won five straight games in the second set to complete the victory in one hour and 16 minutes. This marked Eala's second loss to Jovic in less than a month, following a 6-4, 6-2 defeat at the French Open in May. Eala will next compete as a qualifier at the Berlin Tennis Open, scheduled from June 15 to 21, ahead of the Wimbledon Championships later in June.
