Amanda Anisimova advanced to the third round of Wimbledon after defeating Sofia Kenin in a three-set match on July 2. The sixth seed overcame a fall on the grass and credited her serve for the victory.
Anisimova secured the first set 6-2 before Kenin leveled the match. The deciding set went to a 10-point tiebreak, which Anisimova won 10-3 after hitting three aces.
The American hit a career-high 20 aces during the match. She said her serve performed well under pressure despite not being her strongest weapon.
Anisimova fell during a baseline rally but quickly recovered without injury. She told the crowd she was relieved to advance after a tough contest.
She will face Madison Keys in the next round. Last year Anisimova reached the Wimbledon final.
