Apple bundles creative apps into creator studio subscription

Apple has announced Apple Creator Studio, a new subscription service bundling its professional creative and productivity apps for $13 per month or $129 per year. The package includes tools like Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro, with premium features for Keynote, Pages, and Numbers, launching on January 28. Mac users can still purchase apps individually, while iPad versions require the subscription.

Apple's move into bundled subscriptions for its creative software comes as the company expands its services revenue, which hit a record in 2025. The Apple Creator Studio subscription, set to launch on January 28, provides access to Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, Motion, Compressor, and MainStage on Mac and iPad where available. It also unlocks intelligent features and premium content for Keynote, Pages, Numbers, and Freeform across Mac, iPad, and iPhone.

Priced at $13 monthly or $129 annually, the plan offers a one-month free trial and a student discount of $3 per month or $30 per year. Up to six people can share via Family Sharing. Unlike Adobe's model, Apple keeps standalone purchases available for Mac versions—Final Cut Pro costs $300 as a one-time buy—though iPad editions are subscription-only.

Updates accompany the announcement. Final Cut Pro gains Transcript Search for dialogue-based footage searches, Montage Maker to auto-edit dynamic videos from key moments, and Beat Detection using AI to align edits with music rhythms. Logic Pro adds a Synth Player to its AI Session Players and Chord ID for generating progressions from audio or MIDI. Pixelmator Pro, acquired by Apple in late 2024, debuts on iPad with Apple Pencil support, featuring new tools and filters.

Productivity apps receive OpenAI-powered enhancements: image upscaling and generation from text, plus a Keynote tool to create slide decks from outlines. A new Content Hub provides curated photos, graphics, and illustrations. Motion introduces Magnetic Mask for green-screen-free isolations, and Freeform adds AI image creation.

This positions Apple against Adobe Creative Cloud ($70 monthly for a year) and Microsoft 365, emphasizing AI integration on Apple Intelligence devices.

Hvad folk siger

Initial reactions on X are largely positive, praising the Creator Studio bundle's affordability compared to individual purchases ($640+) and Adobe Creative Cloud, especially for students at $2.99/month. Some users express skepticism about the subscription model gating premium features in free iWork apps like Keynote, Pages, and Numbers, questioning if it's truly a better deal than one-time buys. Tech journalists and influencers highlight new AI tools and cross-platform access launching January 28.
