Aston Martin to debut B-spec chassis at Hungarian GP

Aston Martin will introduce a new B-spec chassis at this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix. The upgrade focuses on aerodynamics and weight reduction as the team seeks to close a significant performance gap.

Fernando Alonso said no package could fully overturn the team's current deficit to the rest of the Formula 1 field. He noted the team had faced gaps of around two seconds on recent circuits like Spa and Silverstone.

The AMR26 will receive the aerodynamic overhaul and weight reduction in Budapest, with power unit updates planned for Zandvoort in August. Chief trackside officer Mike Krack emphasized the need to learn the new package quickly without winter testing.

Cadillac driver Sergio Perez expects the changes to close the gap with his team. Teammate Valtteri Bottas expressed curiosity mixed with concern about the potential performance step.
