The launch follows his victory in the Buenos Aires Justicialista Party (PJ) primaries in mid-March, where he prevailed in 10 of 16 disputed districts against Máximo Kirchner's La Cámpora. Kicillof keeps dialogue channels open with Cristina Kirchner, PJ National president, but aims to differentiate from hardline kirchnerism to build a federal alternative.
2026 polls position him as Milei's strongest rival, with potential to win a runoff in Buenos Aires province. Recently, Kicillof met with former PRO figures Emilio Monzó and Nicolás Massot in La Plata to discuss the economic and political situation, seeking to broaden his base beyond the PJ.
These moves signal Kicillof's shift from resistance to building a broad national coalition.
