BASF åbner integreret anlæg i Zhanjiang

Kemivirksomheden BASF åbner torsdag sit nye integrerede anlæg i Zhanjiang i det sydlige Kina. Administrerende direktør Markus Kamieth betragter råvareforsyningen som sikker på trods af krigen i Iran og blokaden af Hormuz-strædet.

Midt i en ny oliekrise lancerer BASF sit tredjestørste integrerede anlæg efter Ludwigshafen og Antwerpen. Virksomheden har investeret 8,7 milliarder euro i faciliteten i Zhanjiang. Målet er at forsyne kinesiske kunder. Kamieth afviste påstande om at flytte kapacitet fra Tyskland. Anlægget har en teknologisk fordel: I stedet for nafta, et oliederivat, kan det skifte til gas som butan fra forskellige kilder, ikke Mellemøsten. „Indtil videre er der ingen mangel,“ sagde Kamieth i Beijing. „Vi henter dem fra forskellige steder, men ikke fra Mellemøsten.“ BASF kan på kort sigt drage fordel af konkurrenternes forsyningsproblemer. Kamieth erkendte lavere avancer end forventet i Kina. „Lavere end vi oprindeligt troede,“ sagde han. Årsagen er hård priskonkurrence. Kina er dog stadig det marked, der tilbyder størst vækst for branchen.
