Bayer lukker multimilliard-aftale for glyphosat-sager i USA

President Donald Trump has signed an executive order invoking the Defense Production Act to shore up U.S. supplies of glyphosate and its key input, elemental phosphorus—an action that has drawn sharp criticism from parts of the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) movement even as Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. defended the move as a national security measure.

The journal Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology has retracted a 2000 paper claiming glyphosate is safe for humans, citing undisclosed Monsanto involvement and reliance on unpublished studies. This development highlights ongoing concerns about the herbicide's regulation in the US. Meanwhile, stingless bees in Peru's Amazon have gained legal rights in two regions for the first time.

Farming equipment maker John Deere has agreed to pay $99 million to settle a class action lawsuit from customers. The suit alleged the company restricted access to repair tools for its tractors and other equipment, creating a monopoly in the repair market. The announcement came on Monday.

A new report from Alliance for Consumers Action argues that activist networks and aligned legal groups are increasingly using lawsuits and settlements to secure policy changes they could not obtain through elections or legislation. The 19-page document, titled “Lawfare in America,” describes the trend as “woke lawfare” and highlights employment and environmental cases it says have produced broad, forward-looking requirements for companies and government entities.
