Bear mother topples feeding station in Tyngsjö

A hungry bear mother with cubs toppled a roe deer feeding station in Tyngsjö south of Malung. The incident was captured on a wildlife camera on April 24. Owners Sven-Inge Olsson and Marina Halvarsson were shocked by the bear's strength.

Bears have previously visited Sven-Inge Olsson and Marina Halvarsson's roe deer feeding station in Tyngsjö south of Malung. But on April 24, a bear mother appeared with cubs and toppled the entire station in search of food. The incident was recorded by the couple's wildlife camera.

The couple had cleaned feed in a barrel and placed apples nearby the evening before. The bear managed to unscrew a securely fastened lid on the barrel. "We thought about its strength, how incredibly strong it was. It's totally unbelievable," says Sven-Inge Olsson.

Olsson and Halvarsson live in Lesjöfors in Värmland but own a holiday home and forest property in Tyngsjö, just 75-80 meters from the site. "You get shocked... We've seen bears eat before but never damage anything," he adds. Previous bear visits had not caused any destruction.
