Bebeto backs Neymar call-up for 2026 World Cup

Former player Bebeto stated that Neymar would be an important asset for the Brazilian national team if physically fit for the 2026 World Cup. The squad announcement is set for next Monday.

Bebeto, a 1994 world champion, highlighted Neymar’s qualities in an interview with TV Brasil on Friday. The former Santos player described the forward as “differentiated” and said he could play for any national team if physically fit.

He added that Neymar’s presence, even on the bench, would change the team’s outlook. “Just him going to the Cup will already be very different,” Bebeto said, noting it is the attacker’s last chance.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti is expected to announce the squad list on Monday, May 18. Bebeto expressed hope that Neymar, recovering from injuries, will be ready to help Brazil in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
