BGN head Dadan Hindayana confirms Rp268 trillion budget for MBG program

Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, clarified that the state budget allocation for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program is Rp268 trillion, not Rp335 trillion as rumored. He also revealed President Prabowo's directive to suspend hundreds of Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) failing standards.

Jakarta, March 30, 2026 – BGN Head Dadan Hindayana stated that under the state budget, the agency receives Rp268 trillion for the MBG program. "The budget based on the APBN law allocates Rp268 trillion to BGN. So if anyone says we have Rp335 trillion, that's not true," he emphasized.

The rumored Rp335 trillion stems from the presidential reserve fund of Rp67 trillion under Dana Standby BA BUN. Ninety-three percent of the Rp268 trillion goes to MBG aid, with Rp249 trillion breakdown: 70 percent for raw materials benefiting farmers and SMEs, and 20 percent for operations like salaries for over 1.2 million volunteers earning Rp2.4-3.2 million monthly.

"The majority of our budget goes directly to the MBG program, so the benefits are truly felt by the community," Dadan said.

Additionally, Dadan disclosed President Prabowo's directive to suspend 760 out of 1,030 SPPG temporarily for failing standards such as Hygiene Sanitation Certification (SLHS), Wastewater Treatment Installation (IPAL), and portion sizes. Ramadan menus were deemed too minimal, sparking negative perceptions.

"The President emphasized that all SPPG not meeting standards must halt operations temporarily until thorough fixes," he stated. BGN commits to quality improvements via stricter standards.
