Brynäs close to deal for defenseman Axel Rindell

Brynäs IF is nearing an agreement with defenseman Axel Rindell following the collapse of a deal with Juuso Välimäki. The Swedish club had initially presented Välimäki as its new player before the Finnish NHL veteran opted to remain in North America.

According to reports from Expressen, Brynäs has identified Rindell as a replacement. The 26-year-old Finnish defenseman recorded 36 points in 51 games for HV71 last season, marking his best offensive output in the SHL.

Rindell has previously played in the SHL for Timrå and Leksand. Brynäs had appeared set to finalize its defensive search with Välimäki until the arrangement fell apart the day after his initial presentation.
