Cali's mayor's office to auction disused official vehicles

Cali's mayor's office has announced the auction of disused official vehicles to bolster public finances as part of its economic recovery plan. The process will be handled through Banco Popular, led by the Special Administrative Unit for Goods and Services Management. This marks the first time such a modality is used with a financial entity.

Cali's mayor's office is implementing a strategy to optimize public resources by auctioning off official vehicles that are no longer in use. This measure is part of the effort to restore the city's economic stability and generate additional revenue for the district.

The vehicles involved were previously removed from the state inventory by the Movable Goods Committee, initiating their administrative removal and preparing them for sale. The Goods and Services Unit is preparing the necessary formats and requirements for Banco Popular to oversee the process. Base prices will soon be set, and the information will be published on the bank's website, followed by the announcement of the exact auction date.

Noralba García Moreno, director of the Special Administrative Unit for Goods and Services Management, highlighted the significance of this action: "This is part of an exercise in order and transparency that will contribute to the district's financial recovery." She added that it will allow disused vehicles to be converted into investable resources for the city's benefit.

Once awarded, the vehicles will cease to be public assets and become private ones, complying with legal requirements for private use. The process is progressing on schedule: the mayor's office has already sent the technical information to Banco Popular and is awaiting final approval. Afterward, public outreach will begin so interested parties can learn the participation terms.

This initiative represents an innovative step in municipal asset management, prioritizing efficiency and transparency.
