Chancellor of justice drops probe into Nordfront publisher

Sweden's chancellor of justice (JK) has dropped the preliminary investigation into suspected agitation against an ethnic group targeting Vera Oredsson, responsible publisher for the Nordfront website. The reason is that the reported material has been removed or edited from the site. Oredsson, 98, living in Ludvika, can no longer be held accountable.

Sweden's chancellor of justice (JK) announced on March 27, 2026, that the preliminary investigation against Vera Oredsson, 98, has been dropped. Oredsson is the responsible publisher for the Nazi website Nordfront and resides in Ludvika municipality.

The probe began on February 24, or late February, following numerous reports about nearly 200 publications featuring antisemitic, homophobic, and racist content, including articles and images. The suspicions involved agitation against an ethnic group and freedom-of-expression crimes.

According to JK, the material has been removed or edited from the site. The publications are presumed to be over a year old. A 2019 constitutional amendment to the freedom of the press act allows publishers exemption from liability for older publications if notified by JK and removed within two weeks.

Thus, there is no longer reason to continue the investigation, as a conviction is unlikely, JK states. The Nordfront site is linked to the Nordic Resistance Movement (NMR).
