Franco Colapinto secured 13th place in the Canadian Grand Prix Formula 1 sprint qualifying after overcoming electrical issues during free practice.
The Argentine Alpine driver faced difficulties during Friday free practice on May 22 at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal. An electrical issue in his car forced him to abandon the session after just one lap.
The team replaced the car's battery before sprint qualifying. Colapinto progressed to Q2 and posted a competitive time that placed him 13th on the grid.
His teammate Pierre Gasly finished 19th. George Russell claimed pole position, followed by Kimi Antonelli and Lando Norris. The sprint race is scheduled for Saturday, May 23.
