The Transport Licensing Appeals Board has suspended the revocation of Nicco Movers Sacco's licence, allowing the matatu operator to resume operations while its appeal proceeds.
The Transport Licensing Appeals Board issued the order on Wednesday. It suspended the National Transport and Safety Authority decision contained in a letter dated 9 June 2026 that had revoked the Sacco's Public Service Vehicle operator licence.
The board directed Nicco Movers Sacco to file a detailed safety compliance plan within seven days before resuming fleet operations. The matter is scheduled to return before the tribunal on 2 July 2026 for directions on the full appeal.
The revocation followed the death of 19-year-old Eugene Mutuku, who was pushed from a moving Nicco Movers matatu along Thika Road on 4 June 2026 over a disputed KSh20 fare. The Sacco was represented by lawyer Danstan Omari, while NTSA was represented by counsel Mary Kihamba.
