Cris Carter advises DK Metcalf on route running and hands

Hall of Fame wide receiver Cris Carter offered advice to Pittsburgh Steelers receiver DK Metcalf on improving two key areas of his game. Carter spoke on his Fully Loaded podcast about Metcalf's route running and ability to catch in traffic.

Carter compared Metcalf to Calvin Johnson, noting differences in size and athleticism. He said Metcalf's weaknesses lie in route running and catching the ball in traffic.

"For me, I’m spending 90 percent of the offseason on those two items to make everything improve," Carter said. "That’s my advice to someone like DK."

Metcalf stands at around 6 feet 4 inches and weighs over 220 pounds. He ran a 4.33-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine in 2019.

The Steelers acquired Metcalf in a trade last year. He had an underwhelming 2025 season, and the team added other receivers this offseason to complement him.
